Obamarama

Sold out on store.barackobama.com, this limited edition poster print from artist Shepard Fairey fetches minimum $300 from eBay. The steely visage of the historic candidate in the most American of colors can be yours for a premium. That's right, you too can own a piece of history, but it's gonna cost ya. Years from now you can wax nostalgic on Antiques Roadshow on how little you paid for a piece of presidential campaign memorabilia worth so much more. ($300+)

Wild Wild West

The Crimson Skull vintage movie posterVery few have heard of the early film industry that existed in Florida from 1900 to 1930. Before it eventually fell to West coast competition, the studios produced some amazing "race films" starring all black casts. One of the best was the first black Wild West adventure, "The Crimson Skull," filmed on location in Oklahoma with real black cowboys, including rodeo star Bill Pickett, and New York stage actress Anita Bush. The beautiful vintage movie poster is a genuine piece of black Americana and of specific interest to Florida memorabilia collectors like myself. Posteriatati has a few other posters from the same film, but this one's my favorite, which best shows the story of an outlaw gang stirrin' up trouble in a peaceful town. ($1500)

Installation Art

Keith Haring self-adhesive wall decalsSpice up your cubicle with these witty self-adhesive wall decals. Peel and stick. It's that simple. And soon that little Blik character will be shaking his groove thing in your office or even the kids' room. Keith Haring would have loved the low price point, his desire was to create affordable art to be enjoyed by the masses. ($35)

Couture Club

embroidered Oriental bottleEvening gowns with intricate embroidery require hundreds of hours of manual labor. The artisans who create this work typically spend their entire careers in one couture house like the House of Lanel which specializes in embroidery. This year, because of the weak dollar, I simply refuse to spend sixty thousand on a new gown. So I'll take a small dose of couture in the form of a limited edition, framed example like this gorgeous Oriental bottle sewn onto a silk satin canvas. A stunning piece of art for the boudoir. ($986)
