Italian accessories house Francesco Biasia, home of the leather statement bag, has ventured into green land by manufacturing an equisitely fun satchel free of animal byproducts. Constructed of woven pink straw and eco-leather, a material made from 80% cotton and 20% synthetic micro-fibre, the purse manages to satisfy both asthetic pleasures and eco-minded measure. Made in Italy, for the inner vegan fashionista in us all, the purse is a yummy tote you can feel good about. ($318)

The weather may still be a bit chilly, but the stores are stocked with Crayola-colored accessories in preparation for the warm spring days ahead. One of my favorites is this Italian made leather Furla shopper. Sleek, supple and elegant, the over-sized purse features silver tone hardware and a handy outer pocket, perfectly sized for your iPhone. ($795)

That's Amora!

Luxury handbag designer Makeda Amha recently showed her debut collection at The Train, a prestigious New York City tradeshow know as a launchpad for new talent. I am absolutely smitten with the Amora purse. Organic cotton, in the form of traditional Ethiopian textiles, have been incorporated into eco-friendly, vegetable tanned and croc-embossed leather. That means you won't have to worry about dyes turning the Han river red with pollution... basically, an heirloom purse you can feel good about. ($Available Upon Request)

Hot Spot

If you've been afraid to try animal prints, try beginning with a cute accessory like this leopard spot clutch bag from Marmalade. You won't be able to fit much in it, but it will make a boring black dress a bit more cheery. For the daring gal, pair with bright colors like pink or lime pumps so you're not overly matchy. Time Traveler

After having luggage lost or damaged one too many times, the best course of action is to travel with carry-on's only. This rolling tote meets all of the airports requirements as well as mine, and it should, flight attendants designed it! Fashionable and functional, it fits in the overhead compartment as well as under the seat. So instead of waiting around the conveyor belt with the schmoes, you'll be rolling out in style. ($150)

Purple Passion

Purple isn't just the color between blue and red, it's also the color of wealth and good judgement. You'll need both in order to get your hands on a Chloé patent lambskin hobo. Avast Ye! Take heed of this daytime clutch purse. Typically employed to compliment evening wear; sleek, tubular and shiny have been the most popular ingredients. The Shiny Squirrel, a showcase for new designers, offers an interesting alternative in a soft calfskin leather square buckle clutch, successfully bucking the trend. Manufactured by Purdey, English hunting purveyors for small game assassins; it features a bridle leather neck strap, zip pocket, and furry trim. Although I detest the hunt, the spoils can be quite tasty and the accessories sublime. Typically worn over gloves, it's a stylish and usually absent component of the rugged-refined winter wardrobe. The Next Big Sting

Stingray hide is one of the most durable animal skins in the world. Molded and dyed in order to highlight the unique pebbled texture, the leather takes on the characteristics of hard plastic and makes for great accessories, like this beautiful clutch handbag with crocodile trim and goldtone hardware. The Kool-aid red color and sleek design fits perfectly in the palm or underarm. Fashioned to turn heads and lift brows, this bag is a must-have! ($475)

In the never-ending search for the perfect shoulder bag I've come across this beautiful contender, dubbed "the Morgan." Made for the woman who likes to wear her purse close the body, the 9" long strap is sufficiently wide for weight distribution. Those external zippers aren't just design elements, but functional compartments for easy access to small items like a cell phone or keys. Forget Louis Vuitton, it's too easy to find a copy on Canal Street — venerable brands like Bottega Veneta will do just fine. This handsome woven striped duffle bag is grouped with luggage because it measures 16" high, the perfect carry-on. Made in Italy, the soft, hand-woven leather is crafted with the most strict of quality standards. I personally like the brand for it's refusal to play the logo game. The only initials I wanna wear are my own. ($4550)

Every design house is trying to create the hit new bag that every girl wants and every Canal Street vendor will copy. Gucci's offering for this 2007 Fall season is the indy bag. I must admit it's quite cute in gumetal python, and is offered in a dozen different fabric configurations, including an $8000 mink version. Bottom line, this is an investment bag, the superior craftsmanship and detailing will be relevant in another 100 years. ($3990)

Filla Furla Fulla Stuff

Furla has been a hot European label for quite some time now; quietly building momentum as a premium luxury brand in the States. Take for instance this delectable old lady bag — voted most likely to been seen dangling from the arm of an Olsen twin, it's a modern classic. Stately even. A clever throwback to the vintage croc bags of yore, this large sized copy is made of lustrous embossed leather with a Windex shine! Lovey. ($645)

Queen of the Galaxy

Jane Fonda's costumes in the 60s sci-fi classic "Barbarella" seemed to have taken inspiration from an R-rated comic book. Plastic bras, body stockings, mesh bikinis, metal breast plates, vacant stares, and studs... lot's of studs. Precisely why the Barbarella Clutch Bag shares its name with the intergalactic sex kitten. The imagined film prop has the practical feature of a detachable wrist strap and will be found suitable by most earth women. (£25/$50)

Fair trade company, Mad Imports, employs local artisans on the island of Madagascar to create lovely and unique fashion accessories. This bright clutch purse was one of their first designs, the carved wooden handles rest perfectly in the curve of your palm. The boa bog tree design is hand embroidered onto the raffia and cotton body. ($78)

Autobag, Transform!

No doubt inspired by the classic cartoon, designer Kim White transforms vintage fabrics from old furniture and car seats into fabulous bags. Yep, seats from automobiles — like a clutch made from a 1983 Camaro, or this red chevron travel bag from a 1979 GM. Black leather handles and trim with sturdy metal feet and zip top round out the details. This bag is definitley more than meets the eye. ($380)

Minty Fresh

Colombian born Nancy Gonzalez designs distinctive bags for women who enjoy a unique brand of luxury. Handcrafted in her native land, Nancy specializes in working with the superior exotic crocodile and snake skins in unexpected colors like this mint green Cayman hobo. This bag pops, yet the braided strap and deep gathered pleats are the classic details which keep it from appearing gauche. Especially made for those days you find yourself wearing all black. ($2,750)
