Transitional Spring days beg for cute short skirts and strappy heels, but the realities of chilly mornings and frigid evenings require at the very least, light leg coverage. The perfect compromise? Provocative cotton over-knee socks. Pair them with platform heels, an oversized chunky-knit sweater and a beret for Parisian flair. ($120)

Add a dramatic punch to an ordinary ensemble with a pair of textured tights. Crochet from a warm and sturdy cashmere/wool mix, charming little hearts line up and down the leg in alternating patterns. A tiny black bow has been placed behind each heel, a wonderful yet subtle embellishment on an already alluring accessory. ($50)

Leg Work
Denim leggings? Brilliant! The ultimate skinny fit jean. But why can I only find them in online Korean boutiques? A perfect layering piece, they're easily tucked into boots, look great with flats and could quickly become a favorite wardrobe item. Anybody know where can I find these on this side of the planet? Show and Pointelle
Add a bit texture to your wardrobe with a pair of cotton pointelle knit tights. The open weave allows for some breathing room during this transtional weather period. Layer a solid hot pink pair of tights underneath the pointelle for a hint of color and interest once it gets really frosty outside. Lovely with an open toe pump too, just remember to tuck those seams under. And always, always hand wash your tights and allow them to drip dry if you want them to last through the season. ($36)

Shocking Stockings
It's difficult for women of color to find thigh-hi nylon stockings in a range of skin tone colors. Secrets in Lace offers their premier French heel stockings in beige, copper and espresso — a downright plethora! Called a "French heel" for the seam which widens into a sharp triangle shape at the heel, it's extra sexy. Browse through the site for a modern take on retro cheesecake photography, featuring curvy models. ($29)

Rock Em, Sock Em
When's the last time you saw someone wearing socks with heels? Probably not since Jem and the Holograms, but it's still a great look. The difficulty in replicating this look is finding socks thin enough to fit your heels; look to the hosiery department. Like thread counts for sheets, dernier is the density measurement for hosiery. The lower the dernier, the more light and sheer. These socks are 40 dernier, that's right at the low end of the heavier weight yarns, perfect for heels. 70 plus is getting into compression territory, worn mostly by nurses, they actually improve circulation and help prevent varicose veins! ($7/$60)
